It is with enormous pride, and extreme humility, that I announce I have been selected as a Microsoft Regional Director.
Do not be surprised if you have never heard of this honor. It is nowhere near as ubiquitous as the Microsoft MVP program. Whereas there are about 4,000 MVPs worldwide, and most of you who are reading this likely know a few of them, there are only 160 Regional Directors worldwide, and most you have likely never heard of the program.
Each year, Microsoft hand-picks Regional Directors to fulfill a two year roll as a community leader with direct access to Microsoft personnel, including (occasionally) Satya Nadella. We are tasked with relaying community feedback to Microsoft. This program is designed to give Microsoft the real-world perspective they need in order to best serve their clients.
Microsoft describes its Regional Directors as “160 of the world’s top technology visionaries chosen specifically for their proven cross-platform expertise, community leadership, and commitment to business results. You will typically find Regional Directors keynoting at top industry events, leading community groups and local initiatives, running technology-focused companies, or consulting on and implementing the latest breakthrough within a multinational corporation.”
I am looking forward to working with my community and Microsoft to do my part in making the tech world a little better.
Congrats Melody, it’s an honor to serve alongside you on the PASS BoD, as a MVP, and now as a Microsoft Regional Director. Thanks for all you do for the community.
